We, the optimists

Today, I am optimistic. I am full of optimism, full of...

...an outlook on life such that one maintains a view of the world as a positive place, or one's personal situation as a positive one. It is the philosophical opposite of pessimism. Optimists generally believe that people and events are inherently good, so that most situations work out in the end for the best.

Alternatively, some optimists believe that regardless of the external world or situation, one should choose to feel good about it and make the most of it. This kind of optimism doesn't say anything about the quality of the external world; it's an internal optimism about one's own feelings.

what are you optimistc about today?

A Reason to Love Mondays

So as everyone knows (or should know) we have karaoke available from 11 A until 1 P in the Loftlin Student Center every other Monday, which, goes without saying, is not only a very enjoyable experience, but a great way to usher in the on-coming week. Come sit down and take a load off while you listen to your fellow students giving their renditions of your favorite songs, or, if you're bold enough (which I am not!) get on stage and give us your best musical stylings! I will definitely be attending the week after next, and I hope to see some other scholars there as well!

SUCCESS!!

SO, i tried the whole message reminder for blogging. Obviously it worked cuz here i am BLOGGING. Since the last time i blogged, i realized that school is harder when u a job in jeopardy, and a 2 1/2 year old to take care of and a billion bills :( . But it is sooo possible with a little patience n commitment. Its been so hard to stay committed , im scared to fail or even drop.So i suggest more time to study and stress free exercises. I know that with God anything is possible, because "wat is impossible with man is very possible with GOD" (luke 18:27). SO im staying strong in my faith and believing the WORD !! it is POSSILBLE !! So until next time. My motivation i realized are these two Lil ones my lil sis (my other half ) and my nephew the 2 1/2 year old. Remember motivation & commitment !! :)

I think i need some motivation n time :) i want to b more involved and TALKATIVE!! the way i use to . So if u have any suggestion BLOG it . Oh n maybe i just need to loosen up to ha ... well until next time !

Taylor's tips on how to not go crazy this semester....

I like many others, spend a reasonable amount of time during my day either messaging people through text messages, writing wall posts to any of my hundreds of facebook friends (over half of which I don't even know), and recently reading about each of my friends' every move on twitter. Now, would I call this a waste of time?

Absolutely not...

Everyday I am able to communicate and hear from people I most likely would not have spoken to that day. I think each of us as human beings really want to feel like they are a part of some kind of community. But with today's fast paced schedule, between work, school, and the other 50 things we do a week its no wonder we resort to uploading our lives online....and this can be a good thing. But it definitely does not replace the feeling of real communication between real people. So whether you have over 2000 friends online, or have no idea what facebook is and just want to hang out with some people my advice to you is, make the time. If you don't then, without a doubt, its just a matter of time until you burn out. I personally have no idea how I would remain sane throughout my crazy schedule without taking a occasional break to relax and hang out with my friends.

By the Way.....
If your looking for a good time to take a break and listen to some music this friday. From 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm SAC is having a open mic night in the loftin student center. Come take a break from life's crazy schedule....maybe even play a song for us.

Day One - Success!

Hi everyone, my name is Tiffany and I am very excited about this opportunity! I'm majoring in journalism, hoping to transfer to UT Austin for my Bachelors and possibly a Masters. Today was my first chance to assist with orientation; all the new incoming students reminded me why the college journey is more than just academics, but also a rare chance to broaden our horizons past where we have been, inspiring us to work diligently towards our goals and expand our personal knowledge of ourselves and the world around us.

I took some time after high school (approximately four years) to experience the "real world," and I can honestly say that I have reached new heights in personal discovery within the mere two summer semesters I have attended than I had in the time I dwindled away between then and now. I hope I can assist other students in doing the same, the ultimate goal being to help these students integrate to college with as much ease as possible.

Today was great; the many new faces and intellectual minds ready to learn and interact with their fellow students amongst campus was not only reassuring to myself but hopefully my future classmates as well.
